This is the story of our trip to Amsterdam, Netherlands from April 21st to May 15th, 2015. We are spending two weeks in Amsterdam, enjoying the museums, coffee houses and biking. Then we join six college friends for 11 days traveling the canals and exploring the surrounding towns of this area of the Netherlands in a houseboat.

Off to Amsterdam, Netherlands
The journey to Amsterdam begins today with a 2 1/2 hour drive to Montreal, Canada to catch our flight to Amsterdam at Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. We found it was cheaper to fly from Montreal than Burlington, VT, including the cost of leaving our car at a park-n-fly.
We are flying on Delta and over the past few months our flight travel time has changed from 12 hours to 14 1/2 hours travel time. Last week I called Delta and asked if we could take a different flight. To make a long story short, Delta changed our flight to a non stop flight to Amsterdam with a 6 1/2 hour travel time AND at no cost to us. Way to go Delta!!!
We arrive at Schiphol Airport, and take the train to the Station Amsterdam Centraal . We take a 5 minute ferry ride across the main canal, where we get off and walk to our place to stay in Sixhavenweg. We have rented a small mobile home that is located in the garden of the owner, who lives in a houseboat on a canal. More to follow on what this place of stay is like!
Please note: We will not be blogging a post everyday. If you don't want to be checking our blog for updates, just put in your email address in the box at the bottom of the page and you will receive email updates as we post. We will also be posting pictures on face book.
Een ander avontuur begint.
Veilige Reis,
Jane & Charlie
